On Monday, July 16th, Laura Wenger, RN, the Executive Director of Practice Greenhealth and a member of The Healthier Hospitals Initiative will be our guest on RN.FM Radio to discuss the HHI’s mission to invite “healthcare organizations across the country to join the shift to a more sustainable business model, and a challenge for them to address the health and environmental impacts of their industry.”

Prior to Laura’s appearance on RN.FM Radio, we’d like to share a link to an article published by her on the HHI website in April of 2012. The article, entitled “Health Care Sector on Path to Sustainability and Beyond“, introduces the notion of sustainability in the health care sector and its importance to increased sustainability as well as hospitals’ bottom line. You can access the full article here.

Ms. Wenger writes:

Engagement in sustainability initiatives is one of the most exciting things to happen to the health care sector in a long time. This is an opportunity to engage the entire staff in an initiative that not only benefits the hospital bottom line, it provides tremendous rewards and satisfaction in knowing that you are doing something good for the patients, the staff, and the planet. Every department and every staff member can contribute to this effort.

We encourage our listeners and readers to read the full article and visit the Healthier Hospitals Initiative Website for more information.
