Why Didn’t I Do It Already? EPS 196

Podcast: Play in new window | Download
On episode 196 of RNFM Radio, we dig into the notion of why we avoid doing things because we know it will take a long time to accomplish them. The fact is, if we don’t get started now, then when the time has passed, we realize we could’ve been done already if we had actually dived in! And as Elizabeth so pointedly asks, “What would you be doing if you didn’t get started? Watch TV?” Many nurses and potential nurse entrepreneurs feel stuck, stultified, and fearful of what it will take to succeed; why not get started anyway?
Meanwhile, please note that Kevin still can’t figure out what the episode number is!.
Early messages and enculturation can hold us back; we’re fed so much B.S. throughout our lives that convinces us that we can’t take risks or do something out of the box. So, what is it? Fear of failure? Fear of success?
We need to forgive ourselves for the mistakes we’ve made; we need to learn from the hiccups and speed bumps that we encounter alone the way.
Meanwhile, Kevin asks, “What happened to our curiosity?” Don’t lose your childlike curiosity; find your own cadence, celebrate yourself, even when your accomplishments are small. And remember that comparing yourself to others is the key to despair. Avoid regret, recrimination, and remorse.
This conversation really called for an RNFM Radio group hug.
